We are people who are interested in becoming healthcare workers – nurses and respiratory therapists.
We are people that want to help others.
Why Are We Unique?
We are currently homeless and living in a shelter or have lived in a shelter recently.
We face extraordinary challenges and are DETERMINED to improve our lives as well as the lives of others.
What do we do for others?
Serve as Role Models for “beating the odds”
Assist others to “go” to college the first time and escort them if necessary.
Share information that inspires others to pursue goals. Discuss barriers that have been faced and overcome. Share enthusiasm!
Help with Financial Aid information, referrals, etc.
Work together to give the Healthcare Career Club a “presence” in health promotion activities and community volunteering.
- We need support from each other/others.
- We want to return the favor as we progress in pursuing our goals.
- There is a nursing shortage.
- There is homelessness.
- Homeless people need encouragement and support to stop “dreaming” about a career and start “achieving” their dreams.
What are our values?
- Being Role Models
